Fuel Scarcity: University Of Ibadan Closed
The University on Ibadan (UI) was on May 25, Monday, shut over the shortage of electricity and water.
The UI management urged the students to immediately vacate the institution premises, NAN reports.
Muhammed Oladejo, the director of communication, said the alumni were asked to proceed on a two-week mid-semester break.
A UI official, who pleaded for anonymity confirmed the recent development:
“The mid-semester break was declared as a result of power outage. The outage is also affecting other services on campus, especially water and electricity supply. The committee advised the management on the step taken to avert problems as witnessed recently.
“The mid-semester break will take two weeks. The students living at Independence Hall lodged a complaint and the school authorities decided to take immediate action.”
Meanwhile the lingering fuel crisis continues. According to Sahara Reporters, Nigeria’s commercial activities are gradually getting paralysed. Airports, TV stations and hospital are being shut all across the country, threatening to drive Nigeria into a recession.
