Nigerians living in London who have converged at the
Nigeria High Commission to enroll for the Bank Verification Number were
disappointed on Thursday july 16 as they were not enroll.
It was learnt that the centre which was flooded by Nigerians who have
accounts back home got so choke-up leading to a chaotic situation. The
situation degenerated to an extend where the police were invited in to
control things.
A disappointed Nigerian who did not disclose his identity said: ” They
allowed us converge on the street and then locked us out. We are also
being forced to pay £30.00 each but none of the officials or the website
can explain what the money is for. Is it not free in Nigeria?“
The Central Bank of Nigeria had earlier commenced Bank Verification Number for Nigerians in diaspora who maintained accounts back home few days ago.
